And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 no loyal friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
