'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
