The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
