Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a high garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
