The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
