A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Laam-Meem-Saad. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 (It is) a Scripture that is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) - so let there be no heaviness in thy heart therefrom - that thou mayst warn thereby, and (it is) a Reminder unto believers. 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 How many a township have We destroyed! As a raid by night, or while they slept at noon, Our terror came unto them. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 So indeed We shall inform them with Our knowledge and We were not absent. 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for that they wrongfully treated Our signs. 9 And assuredly We established you in the earth and appointed for you livelihoods therein; yet little thanks ye return. 10
