AND, BEHOLD, Jonah was indeed one of Our message-bearers 139 He abandoned his people 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 and the fish swallowed him while he was blaming himself. 142 And were he not one of those who praise. 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Now, ask them, has your Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 151 Allah has begotten; and most surely they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 God is far above what they attribute to Him, 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 But as for you, and that you serve, 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 and we glorify God". 166 And surely they used to say: 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 That they would be helped, 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
