Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
