The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
