And mention Ibrahim in the Book; surely he was a truthful man, a prophet. 41 who asked his father, "Father, why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor help you at all? 42 "O my father! Behold, there has indeed come to me [a ray] of knowledge such as has never yet come unto thee: follow me, then; I shall guide thee onto a perfect way. 43 O my father! Serve not the devil. Lo! the devil is a rebel unto the Beneficent. 44 "O my father! I fear lest a Penalty afflict thee from (Allah) Most Gracious, so that thou become to Satan a friend." 45 The father said: "Abraham, have you turned away from my gods? If you do not give this up, I shall stone you to death. Now begone from me forever." 46 He said: Peace be on you, I will pray to my Lord to forgive you; surely He is ever Affectionate to me: 47 I shall stay away from you and what you worship instead of God. I worship my Lord and hope that my prayers will not be ignored." 48 So when he had separated from them and what they worshipped other than Allah, We bestowed him Ishaq and Yaqub; and We made each of them a Herald of the Hidden. 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
