And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
