The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 By the House Frequented. 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
