The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right hand; 38
