The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
