The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 By the heaven and That which built it 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
