I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 “And indeed this religion of yours is one religion only and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me.” 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Those who tremble with fear of their Lord; 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 And those who with their Lord associate not anyone. 59 who give what they give, with their hearts quaking, that they will return to their Lord: 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works and shall be the foremost in doing so. 61 And [withal.] We do not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what men do and can do]; and none shall be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 until We seize with Our chastisement those of them that are given to luxuriant ways. They will then begin to groan. 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 In arrogance; talking nonsense about the Quran, and left him like one telling fables by night. 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him? 69 Or do they say, 'He is bedevilled'? Nay, he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse from the truth. 70 And should the truth follow their low desires, surely the heavens and the earth and all those who are therein would have perished. Nay! We have brought to them their reminder, but from their reminder they turn aside. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way. 74 ۞ Even if We were to grant them mercy and rescue them from hardship, they would still blindly persist in their rebellion. 75 And already We overtook them with chastisement, but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor do they humble themselves. 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of extreme punishment, behold! they are aghast thereat. 77
