and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 Bring back to us our fathers if you are truthful.” 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba' and those before them whom We destroyed? They were surely sinners. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
