Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
