The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
