Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
