Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Woe to every backbiter, slanderer 1 who amasses wealth, counting it over, 2 Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever! 3 By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces, 4 Would that you understood what that crushing torment is like. 5 (It is) the kindled Fire of Allah, 6 to penetrate into the hearts. 7 Surely it shall be closed over upon them, 8 in towering columns. 9

True are the words of God the Almighty.
