The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
