The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
