The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Who will be honoured 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
