The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when souls are united, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
