Man prayeth for evil as he prayeth for good; for man was ever hasty. 11 We appointed the night and the day as two signs. Then, We blotted out the sign of the night and made the sign of the day to see, so that you seek the bounty of your Lord and that you know the number of years and the reckoning. And We have clearly distinguished everything. 12 And We have made every man's actions to cling to his neck, and We will bring forth to him on the resurrection day a book which he will find wide open: 13 [It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant." 14 Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And Allah sufficeth as Knower and Beholder of the sins of His slaves. 17 Whosoever desires this hasty world, We hasten for him therein what We will unto whomsoever We desire; then We appoint for him Gehenna wherein he shall roast, condemned and rejected. 18 And whoever desires the Hereafter and strives for it, with the necessary effort due for it (i.e. do righteous deeds of Allah's Obedience) while he is a believer (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), then such are the ones whose striving shall be appreciated, thanked and rewarded (by Allah). 19 Each We succour, these and those, from thy Lord's gift; and thy Lord's gift is not confined. 20 See how We have preferred some above others. Yet the Everlasting Life is greater in rank and greater in preferment. 21 "Do not set up another god with God, or you will remain disgraced and destitute. 22
