Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 From Pharaoh. Indeed, he was a haughty one among the transgressors. 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 the day a master shall avail nothing a client, and they shall not be helped, 41 save him upon whom God has mercy; He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 42
