AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 (Sarah) his wife came with an exclamation and clasped her face, and said: 'Surely, I am a barren old woman' 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 to loose upon them stones of clay 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 And also in Ad, when We loosed against them the withering wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
