The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruit, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
