The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 and the day in splendour 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
