Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion: 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 [and will be told:] "Taste this your trial! It is this that you were so hastily asking for!" 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 and in your selves; what, do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision, and that which you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
