Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
