And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn) 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful. 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 We are surely those who are arranged in ranks. 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 And surely they used to say: 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 and that, verily, Our hosts - they indeed - would [in the end] be victorious! 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 But when it shall descend in their court, evil shall then be the morning of the warned ones. 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, above what they describe. 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
