Nay, and by the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until death approached us". 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
