Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
