Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no loyal friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
