No, by the moon! 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to humans, 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 about the sinners. 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Yea, everyone of them claims that he [himself] ought to have been given revelations unfolded! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
