Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
