And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And put thy trust on the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,- 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 Indeed only He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Do you not see that they wander about bewildered in every valley? 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
