And [yet,] they have a sign [of Our power to create and to resurrect] in the lifeless earth which We make alive, and out of which We bring forth grain, whereof they may eat; 33 And We have placed in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made springs of water in it. 34 so that they may eat its fruit, though it was not their hands that made this. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness. 37 And the sun runs on to a term appointed for it; that is the ordinance of the Mighty, the Knowing. 38 and [in] the moon, for which We have determined phases [which it must traverse] till it becomes like an old date-stalk, dried-up and curved: 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 And We have created for them the like of it, what they will ride on. 42 And if We will, We drown them, and there is no help for them, neither can they be saved; 43 save as a mercy from Us, and enjoyment for a while. 44 When it is said unto them: Beware of that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy (they are heedless). 45 And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away. 46 and when they are told, "Give to others out of what God has provided for you," those who are bent on denying the truth say to the believers, "Why should we feed those whom God could feed if He wanted? You are clearly in error!" 47 And they say: "When will this promise (i.e. Resurrection) be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They are awaiting only for one Cry to seize them while they are yet disputing, 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
