Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for, 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 that [Last Hour] which is so near draws ever nearer, 57 No one besides God can rescue a soul from hardship. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
