The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
