The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
