Do not think Allah is heedless of the evil deeds in which the evil-doers are engaged. He is merely granting them respite until a Day when their eyes shall continue to stare in horror, 42 They running forward with necks outstretched, their heads uplifted, their gaze returning not towards them, and their hearts a (gaping) void! 43 And warn people of the day when the chastisement shall come to them, then those who were unjust will say: O our Lord! respite us to a near term, (so) we shall respond to Thy call and follow the apostles. What! did you not swear before (that) there will be no passing away for you! 44 Yet you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had exceeded themselves, and it was evident to you how We had dealt with them; and We held out examples before you." 45 Verily they have plotted their plot, and their plot is with Allah, though their plot were one whereby the mountains should be moved. 46 So deem not thou that Allah is going to fail His promise to His apostles; verily Allah is Mighty, Lord of vengeance 47 On the day when the earth shall be changed into a different earth, and the heavens (as well), and they shall come forth before Allah, the One, the Supreme. 48 For on that Day thou wilt see all who were lost in sin linked together in fetters, 49 their garments shall be of pitch and the fire shall envelop their faces. 50 In order that Allah may repay each soul what it had earned; indeed Allah spends no time in judging the account. 51 This is a message for mankind that they may take a warning from it, and may know that He is the one and only God, and that men of wisdom may reflect. 52
