[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 Recall, when Shuayb said to them: "Have you no fear? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 I ask of you no wage for this; 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They said: "You are only one of those bewitched! 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 "So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!" 187 He said: 'My Lord knows what you are doing' 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
