Thamood cried lies to the warnings 23 and they said: "Are we to follow one single mortal, one from among ourselves? In that case, behold, we would certainly sink into error and folly! 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her). 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
