Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
