By the moon, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 a warning to humankind, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
