He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he feareth 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
