(Muhammad), they will ask you about Dhu 'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I shall tell you something about him". 83 Surely We established him in the land and granted him means of access to every thing. 84 And he followed a road 85 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." 86 He submitted, “Regarding one who has done injustice, we shall soon punish him – he will then be brought back to his Lord, Who will punish him severely.” 87 "But whoever believes, and works righteousness,- he shall have a goodly reward, and easy will be his task as We order it by our Command." 88 Then he followed a way 89 Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no covering protection against the sun. 90 Thus. And We had encompassed [all] that he had in knowledge. 91 Then he followed (another) course. 92 [And he marched on] till, when he reached [a place] between the two mountain-barriers, he found beneath them a people who could scarcely understand a word [of his language]. 93 They said: "O Dhul-Qarnain! Verily! Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog) are doing great mischief in the land. Shall we then pay you a tribute in order that you might erect a barrier between us and them?" 94 He said: better is that wherein my Lord hath established me; so help me with might, and I shall place between you and them a rampart. 95 “Give me sheets of iron”; until when he had raised the wall equal to the edge of the two mountains, he said, “Blow”; to the extent that he made it ablaze – he said, “Bring me molten copper to pour upon it.” 96 So they [Gog and Magog] were not able to scale it, nor were they able to bore through it, 97 He said: This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord cometh to pass, He will lay it low, for the promise of my Lord is true. 98 ۞ And on that day We will leave a part of them in conflict with another part, and the trumpet will be blown, so We will gather them all together; 99 And We shall bring hell in front of the disbelievers. 100 (To) Those whose eyes had been under a covering from My Reminder (this Quran), and who could not bear to hear (it). 101
